Synopsis for "Kal-El Returns, Chapter Three: Olgrun's Heir"

Lex Luthor returns to Stryker's Island to visit Metallo, who he has gifted with a new, fully functioning body. Luthor once again tries to convince Metallo to help him in his crusade against Superman and the Warworld refugees, promising to give him a body which will finally make him as strong as Superman; and reveals that he knows Metallo's human brain is dying and implies that he can save his life. Metallo refuses and predicts that Luthor will be defeated and humiliated by Superman yet again. Luthor momentarily flies into a rage, but regains control of himself and leaves. As he goes, he reveals that he knows about Tracy and obliquely threatens her.

Meanwhile, Lois and Bibbo Bibbowski take Osul-Ra and Otho-Ra to the Metropolis City Zoo to learn about Earth animals. Suddenly, representatives from both Apokolips and New Genesis Boom Tube in front of them, tracking the Fire of Olgrun. Superman swoops in to confront the New Gods, and they tell him that by taking the Fire, he has risked waking Olgrun and endangered all of creation. They believe it is only a matter of time before he is corrupted by Olgrun's madness, and they must kill him now to prevent disaster. However, Desaad senses that Superman does not have the Fire, Osul-Ra does. Orion and Kalibak try to take the boy, but Superman refuses to let them and charges into battle against the sons of Darkseid.

Back at Stryker's, visiting hours end without Tracy making her regular visit to John, likely because Luthor has gotten to her.

Synopsis for "Red Moon, Part Two"

A week before the New Gods attack Earth, Superman's loyalists on Warworld inform him that Chaytil and a band of Warzoons have stolen an Orphan Box and gone to Earth seeking revenge. The Superman Family spread out across Earth to look for them and protect any areas significant to Superman that the Warzoons may target. Thao-La warns them not to underestimate Chaytil; he is the oldest living Warzoon, surviving for decades through savagery unmatched even by the Monguls, and commands the unquestioning loyalty of younger warriors.

Supergirl and Thao-La are sent to protect Metropolis, and shortly after they arrive Thao-La's super-hearing activates. This allows her to hear Chaytil underground and she and Supergirl dig down to where Chaytil is hiding in a cavern under Metropolis, with a giant beast he created from the bodies of his own men.
