Synopsis for Congo Bill: "Mystery of the Stolen Bell"

In a small town in New Guinea, someone has stolen the village's historically-significant bell, and murdered the bell-ringer. The murderer is after a map to a gold mine, which is carved onto a metal sheet and riveted inside the bell. The local townspeople believe it's the act of a nearby tribe of headhunters. Congo Bill is sent by World Wide Insurance Company to investigate. The headhunters protest their innocence, and are able to prove it to Bill's satisfaction. The murderer is able to steal the map and flee the area, but he miscalculates the amount of gasoline he would need to drive his stolen jeep to the coast. Congo Bill, with one colonial constable along, tracks and ambushes the killer, who is arrested.

Synopsis for Vigilante: "The Cowboy Magician"

Greg Sanders' popular radio program proves to be less popular on television, leading Greg to pep up his act with some stage magic tricks. Meanwhile the wealthy celebrity guests of another program, "Men To Remember," are being systematically robbed, in a seemingly impossible way. Vigilante figures out who's doing that, by drawing on his newfound knowledge of stage magic to figure out how he does it. The villain turns out to be a corrupt television announcer, Frank Mills.

    • Professor Carter's Force-Repeller was effective against Superman, indeed it caused Superman to knock himself out with one punch, per page 9, panels 3 and 4. But it's only effective for 24 hours, and Carter says he doesn't remember how to make a new one.
    • Per the caption under panel 6 of page 10, Superman's eyes actually project X-rays, which can be reflected with harmful effects.
