- It happens in medicine sometimes! You gave me such an overdose of Kryptonite rays that I built up a tolerance to them! I'm immune to kryptonite now!
- — Superman
Action Comics #377 is an issue of the series Action Comics (Volume 1) with a cover date of June, 1969.
Synopsis for Superman: "The Cage of Doom"
A ring of Green Kryptonite dust encircles the Earth, and Superman's protective lead armor turns to glass in space. Desperate, the Man of Steel rides an empty rocket shell down out of the influence of the Kryptonite ring. A disappointed audience watches him return like a flaming meteorite.
The Anti-Superman Gang has tried to kill Superman four times.
- "Eureka" Smyth tried to materialize a bullet in Superman's head with a Matter-Transmitter
- "Wheels" Talbot tried to madden the Man of Steel with a Super-Siren.
- "Brains" Logan tried to strangle Superman by shrinking his indestructible costume.
- "Giant Killer" Jones put the Kryptonite ring around the Earth; and kept his Lead Changing Ray trained on Superman so that any lead shielding would be turned to glass.
At the Fortress of Solitude Superman makes an invisible lead-glass suit, visits the Anti-Superman Gang, and fools them into believing that he'd become immune to Kryptonite because of the constant exposure. In frustration, the Chief gang member destroys the Lead Changing Ray and Superman captures them all. Now safe in his lead-glass suit, Superman vacuums up the Kryptonite rings.
And Clark Kent gets the scoop in the Daily Planet.
