Synopsis for Superman: "Don't Get Off on the 13th Floor!"

Clark Kent decides to dine with investigative reporter Roy Raymond and Steve Lombard. Lombard takes a separate elevator to the 14th floor but is shocked to see where he is when the elevator doors open. In the meantime the setting is disrupted by an alien being that is seen running out of the Galaxy building. The monster appears to have super strength and easily handles Superman when he appears on the scene. The alien is suddenly subdued by a beam of light emanating from a police van who hauls the alien away much to the surprise of Superman. Back at the Galaxy building, Steve Lombard is trying to convince Clark Kent that the elevator has taken him to a 13th floor that doesn't exist. He seems to have found a portal to another dimension. Lombard goes berserk and starts to transform into the image of the alien being that had rushed out earlier. Superman and the alien Lombard struggle with each other on the street. The two are then hit with a beam of light and they are transported to another world called Tybalt. The alien explains that he had purchased a vacation package to visit earth. The Galaxy building 13th floor serves as a teleport station between Earth and Tybalt. The vacation package comes complete with a human disguise so they can freely participate in human activities. The vacation was interrupted when disreputable travel agents interfered with the transport machine. The alien goes on to explain that if they remain on earth too long they return back to their original shape and form. That is why the previous alien visitor had to be recovered in vehicle disguised as a police van. They also gain super strength but go into convulsions in earths air. Superman promises not to interfere with Tybalts tourist trade if they assist him in returning home.

Synopsis for The Atom: "Nightmare in Gold"

Ray Palmers lab assistant Enrichetta has somehow been turning everything she dreams about into 24 Karat gold. The story is continued from the previous issue where Enrichetta and her fiancée Roberto have disappeared. The Atom heads to the basement of his lab to search for his missing friends. He finds Enrichetta strapped to a gurney with two men in security guard uniforms looming over her. They are trying to get the sleeping Enrichetta to dream about certain objects so they can turn into gold. They suggest that she dream of a lecturn in hall 101 but she begins to dream about the security guards themselves and they start turning into gold. The Atom rushes in and subdues the two men. He recognizes a necklace around Enrichettas neck as the sorcerers stone, a legendary jewel that turns objects into gold. He rips the stone from Enrichettas neck and crushes the stone. Once destroyed all objects that had previously turned to gold return back to their normal state. Ray Palmers hand, the two security guards and Roberto himself all return back to normal. Later Ray Palmer hangs up on his fiancée Jean Loring after she suggest they go watch a James Bond double feature, Goldfinger and The Man With The Golden Gun.
