"Green Lantern: "Bring Me a Man"": The Power Ring shows Hal Jordan images from the past.

Action Comics #614 is an issue of the series Action Comics (Volume 1) with a cover date of August, 1988.

Synopsis for Green Lantern: "Bring Me a Man"

The Power Ring shows Hal Jordan images from the past. In his dying moments, Abin Sur commands his ring to find a man who is "totally without fear". Obeying his commands, the ring performed a psychic profile of humanity and discovered that all human beings have fears and that a man completely free of fear would be mentally unstable. Thus the ring elected to find a man with a minimum of fear and picked Hal Jordan as the nearest match. Hal was not completely without fear, so the ring opted to rearrange his psychic profile to eliminate all fear.

Unsatisfied with that reveal, Hal commands the ring to make him a man with fear again. The ring complies. Meanwhile, a suicide man is about to jump from a building. Determined to interfere and save the man, Hal goes flying out of the window but suddenly starts to fall as he was afraid of heights. He manages to land alongside the suicide man. The young man thinks Green Lantern is just acting afraid to prove anyone can overcome their fears. Inspired, he gets back inside the building instead of jumping off. Hal decides to take things one step at a time from now on and learn to live with fear.

Synopsis for Nightwing: "First Blood"

In London, Nightwing saves the targeted ambassador from being shot by the assassin Cheshire, while Speedy runs to confront his former lover in front of Big Ben. Cheshire has no problem handling the bowman and, even with the timely arrival of Nightwing, the assassin escapes. Back at their hotel, Dick listens to Roy's account of how he and Cheshire originally met, and how from that meeting their daughter was conceived. Back at his residence, the ambassador is murdered as a shower turns into a death trap as deadly gas is pumped in through the shower head. Nightwing investigates the murder scene as Speedy meets with Cheshire in an alley. Each promises they will stop the other, even if it means death before Cheshire disappears.

Synopsis for Catwoman: "The Tin Roof Club, Part 4"

Catwoman halts her plunge from the "Gotham Plaza" and scales the side of the building back to the room of Holly's "widowed" husband, Arthur. Back inside, two members of the hotel's security detail arrive and states Arthur's mistress (who was with Arthur when Selina confronted Arthur last issue) reported a break-in to which Arthur replies he doesn't want any trouble. One of the security guards named Harry says that maybe Arthur should make it worth their while not to give him any trouble, as he enters the room to look around. Noticing the broken window, Harry looks out and is grabbed by Catwoman and pulled into a freefall. When the other guard goes to check his partner's whereabouts, he too is pulled out the window by Catwoman, who then enters the room and puts the stolen brooch she had come to claim back into Arthur's sock drawer.

After twenty minutes, Arthur and his mistress go back inside the room but can't find the missing security guards. In seconds, police push their way into the room, find the stolen brooch and accuse the duo of the murder of the guards, who are "kitty litter on the sidewalk". Sometime later, George Flannery visits Selina at "The Tin Roof Club" and orders a drink from Selina's new bartender, Raul. While Selina is amused that Arthur is "going up the river", George states that Selina looks like the cat that just ate the canary; to which Selina replies, "Don't worry Detective Flannery, I'm allergic to feathers."
