Synopsis for "Certain Death"

With his illness getting considerably worse, Lex Luthor makes plans for his seemingly short future.

Clark Kent and Lois Lane's date is suddenly interrupted by a report of a fire at the old Bakerline Brewery. Lois runs first to the scene and, unbeknownst to her, Clark changes to his Superman suit and takes her flying. On their way, Superman contemplates the idea of revealing his secret identity to his fiance. Now on the scene, Superman saves the firemen and puts out the fire.

Later, Lex Luthor announces, as part of his schemes, that he'll fly on his Lexwing all around the world at a new air-speed record alongside co-pilot Nick Buxton. But while they fly over the Caribbean, Lex ejects the co-pilot and then flies alone towards the Andes of Peru, where he crash-lands. Superman, who at that time was at his engagement party as Clark Kent in the Daily Planet, hears about the crash and rapidly flies off to the site. Among the debris, he finds Lex's metallic hand. Luthor's remains are brought to Metropolis and the news of his death fall over the mournful city of Metropolis.
