Action Comics #668 is an issue of the series Action Comics (Volume 1) with a cover date of August, 1991.

Synopsis for "The Ghost of Luthor"

Superman has a nightmare involving Luthor's ghost. This ghost grabs Superman with a giant Kryptonite hand, and when he gets free of the hand, he sees a younger Luthor with red hair, whose face melts as he says goodbye to the man of steel. After that haunting scene, Clark wakes up. Unable to sleep, he flies around the world to clear his head.

The next day, Superman stops an angry mob from lynching a "scab" after all the economic strikes caused by Luthor's death. After he leaves, he hears these angry people refer to Luthor as a hero.

The death of the business man and the rumors of his being alive are a hot topic in Metropolis, discussing it on every news channel and taking the front page of every magazine. One of them, National Whisper, claims Superman helped Luthor fake his death. Clark snaps after reading that title, and he confronts the magazine's editor. Superman decides to take action about this, and he passes the data about the real accident to Cat Grant, who hosts a special program on the Newsmakers tv channel.

Meanwhile, in Sydney, Australia, Doctors Sydney Happersen and Gretchen Kelley prepare to meet the next heir of Luthor's empire, Dr. Kelley's son.
