Action Comics #741 is an issue of the series Action Comics (Volume 1) with a cover date of January, 1998.

Synopsis for "A Cautionary Tale"

Lex Luthor reads a "Cautionary Tale" to his infant daughter. Meanwhile, Military Forces attack Metropolis borough of New Troy. Superman, with altered powers (able to manipulate energy) investigates. Members of the Legion of Super-Heroes appear: Brainiac 5 created an artifical life form by joining two powerful computers called C.O.M.P.U.T.O. Lois Lane investigates; the Mayor announces an anonymous donor will help to restore the ravaged Metropolis.

Elsewhere, Jimmy Olsen drives away from a cave in a motorcycle/side-car carrying himself, Misa, Ashbury Armstrong, and Scorn; the cave was inhabited by a giant green Tu-Pock shouting monster...

Blue Superman and the Legion determine that C.O.M.P.U.T.O will attack next at an antique plane show. Sure enough. COMPUTO takes over an F-15 and sends it tumbling to the ground. Superman slows it with his magnetic grip, and he and the Legion get it safely to the ground. Meanwhile, Braniac 5 figures out that the tanks attacking Metropolis were not actually under COMPUTO's control...

Lex continues his story to his daughter--a charming tale of a clever rooster, a jealous fox and the fox's desire to eat the rooster. Superman and the Legion appear to talk to Lex. Superman accuses Lex of attacking Metropolis with the tanks. Lex protests that Superman is always accusing him without evidence. The Legion reveals that they have never heard of Lex or Lexcorp in the future. Superman looks forward to the day when Metropolis is free of Luthor.

Luthor tells his daughter that everything should one day be hers, and hopes that she will never give her last name up.
