Action Comics #760 is an issue of the series Action Comics (Volume 1) with a cover date of December, 1999.

Synopsis for "…Never-Ending Battle…"

Doctor Spectro stands triumphant above Metropolis, convinced that the city is his now that he has Kryptonite. When Superman appears to stop him, the villain finds out that he has been had and bought a shiny rock. Clock King arrives moments later to discover that he has also been had with fake Kryptonite.

Clark Kent has to work a story in Japan and he is a ball held by industrialist Ivan Blackwell who reveals that he has also purchased one of the worthless rocks. The Stone Emperor attacks from nowhere to retrieve what he considers his stolen property and teleports away just as quickly when the Man of Steel informs them both that they have been had. La Encantadora appears from the crowd and reveals that she is behind the ruse but she claims to have an actual piece and briefly tortures Superman with it before she runs off to Tijuana, where she will sell it to the highest bidder.

Several villains arrive in time for her auction and Superman is shortly behind them, launching her purported Kryptonite into deep space before writhing in agony at a charm that the sorceress wears around her neck. She once again absconds with the money and disappears using her magic.

Lois Lane investigates and finds that La Encantadora has been pulling this scam worldwide. When Superman finally catches up to her in Spain, he uses one of Spectro’s projectors to mimic all of the swindled villains coming to attack her at once. While she is distracted, he swoops in to steal her magical mists and bottle them up so she cannot control his mind or anyone else’s. Although she is briefly upset, she appreciates the one-upsmanship and kisses Superman telling him that this is just the beginning of their relationship.
