- In Batman: The Sunday Classics 1943-1946, Alvin Schwartz revealed that the character of Serge from "The Chef of Bohemia" was based on a Russian restaurateur named Alex, who ran a restaurant named Alex's Borscht Bowl. Alex would introduce Schwartz to Sheldon Mayer, eventually leading to Schwartz's job at DC.
