Synopsis for "Path of Doom, Part Three"

Lois sadly remembers Superman's death at the hands of Doomsday. Although he came back, she cannot bear the thought of losing him again. Jon is upset Lois will not let him see the fight on TV and asks what is so bad about Doomsday, and Lois replies she was there when Superman first fought him. It took everything Superman had, but in the end he won. The two agree to watch the fight together and pray for Superman's safe return.

In Metropolis, Jimmy asks Clark to go help Superman and Lex beat Doomsday, but Clark has already said he and Superman are separate individuals. Doomsday has broken through Lex's armor but Superman pushes him away and throws him into the sewers. Mr. Oz watches the fight from his hideout, while Lex pulls out his mother box to repair his armor.

Clark falls into the sewers and breaks his arm while Superman struggles with Doomsday. Superman tells Clark to leave while he still can, but Clark says Superman did not save him when he sent Clark into hiding months ago. Both have questions that need answering, but for now, they must focus on getting out of there alive. As Lex rejoins the battle, Superman asks him to take Clark to safety and protect any remaining bystanders and Lex reluctantly agrees. Although Superman still wonders about Lex's true motives, he is convinced Lex wants to do the right thing, and for now he has to trust him.

Lex tells the civilians to escape while Clark insists on remaining on Metropolis to do his job as a reporter. In an attempt to distract him, Superman blasts Doomsday with heat vision until Doomsday breaks a gas line and causes a massive explosion, turning a large part of the city into a smoldering crater. Clark ventures into the debris and tries to find Superman, only for Doomsday to emerge from the smoke and attack him.
