Synopsis for "Booster Shot, Conclusion"

Superman and Booster Gold are about to be executed by General Zod's family. Although Booster's force field can protect them from their combined rays of heat vision, it will not last long, giving Superman and Booster a few seconds to formulate an escape plan. Fortunately, salvation comes in the form of Skeets, who was able to transfer his mind into an Eradicator android before Zod destroyed his original body. Skeets extends his hacking skills into the rest of the Eradicator's android army, giving Superman and Booster the opening they need to escape and fight back.

Zod's prisoners are inspired to overthrow their captors, especially after Superman defends them from Lor and Ursa. Although Lor and Ursa briefly incapacitate Superman, Booster holds Zod's hostage by holding a shard of Kryptonite to his face. Lor does not care for his father's life, horrifying Ursa, but this distraction is enough for Superman to escape their grasp and continue the battle. Skeets reconstructs the time sphere with Eradicator parts and the heroes quickly escape from New Krypton. Although Superman wanted to stay and help the slaves defeat the House of Zod, Booster tells that once he returns to the present, Superman can prevent that future from coming to pass in the first place.

Booster wants to return Superman to his original time, but Superman still insists on returning to Krypton and verify if Jor-El really turned into Mr. Oz. After some thinking, Booster reluctantly agrees and directs the time sphere to Krypton, just a few seconds before its destruction. Superman can only watch as Jor-El is taken away by a mysterious blue light, while his beloved wife Lara and all of Krypton die around him. Superman silently sheds a tear as he realizes Jor-El is really Mr. Oz. Despite his sympathy, Booster tells Superman not to interfere with the timeline, as the temptation to right every wrong in the timeline can be too great to resist.

The timesphere returns to its original time and Skeets informs Superman that Lois and Jon are in Logamba, but Superman flies to Logamba to save them before anything can happen to them. Skeets explains to Booster than Lois and Sam Lane were killed by Logamban forces. Knowing that Superman will be devastated upon seeing his family dead, especially after failing to save his parents on Krypton, Booster decides to travel back in time, ninety-five seconds into the past, so they can save Superman's family. Although Skeets warns that changing the past will have great consequences, Booster accepts to bear those consequences as long as Superman's family is saved. Booster arrives at Logamba and incapacitates the Logamban soldiers before they can fire on Lois, Jon and Sam. With the Logamban soldiers defeated, Lois, Jon and Sam reach a helicopter. Just as they depart, their helicopter is attacked by a missile but Superman arrives just in time to destroy the missile and save his family.

Later, at the Justice League Watchtower, Superman and Booster apologize to Flash for using his cosmic treadmill. With their mission completed, Booster and Skeets return home.

Notes

  • Booster Gold travels back in time and erases the timeline where Lois and Sam Lane were murdered by the Logamban forces.
  • This story marks the first time that Booster Gold implies to have visited the Marvel Universe.
    • When Skeets says that he wishes that Booster would stop calling him "Alfred", Booster replies that "he can't call it Jarvis because that is another timeline." which is a nod to Edwin Jarvis, Iron Man/Tony Stark's butler.
    • The next implication will be addressed in Blue & Gold #2.

Trivia

  • During Booster Gold's confrontation with the Flash and Superman in the Justice League Satellite, Barry states that "he would never mess with the timeline" but Booster replies "Really Flash, you would never!?". This is obviously a nod to New Earth The Flash/Barry Allen running back in time to save his mother which caused the Flashpoint.
