Adriana Melo (b. June 19, 1976) is a comic book artist.

Adriana Melo is a Brazilian comic book artist and penciller who has worked on various Star Wars titles, mostly in the Star Wars: Empire series. She has also worked on DC Comics' Rose & Thorn and Birds of Prey as well as Top Cow's Witchblade and Marvel Comics's Ms. Marvel.[1]

Personal History

Adriana Melo is Paulista, was born on June 19, 1976 when small and it was easier to find lost in a mountain of paper and pencil than playing house and dolls. When asked what she would do when she grew up, the answer was easy: "Artist of comic books." It was at the age of 16 while attending high school (with technical drawing) that Adriana had her first contact with Comics, where thanks to a job that was proposed as the reproduction of line and color of a page (in this case, "The Death of Superman "). At the same time, a matter left in the Jornal da Tarde speaking Brazilians working for American publishers and interview with artist Roger Cruz, since then, thanks to weekly classes of the Human Figure, and in this work, she realized as she reveled Umana and art in general, there she had first made contact with superhero comics. Thinking of joining the two things she liked (the study of the human figure and comics) began to train alone at home.

At 18 she visited her first comic event in Sao Paulo, where two professionals would talk and evaluate portfolios. Taking the material fruit of months of training, in addition to some specially prepared for the convention. After evaluation, Roger Cruz and Marc Campos liked the material and indicated to the agency that brokered the Art & Comics. It was thus that after 6 months of training and daily studies came the first opportunity: Iron Man. Soon after, Adriana worked on titles such as Fantastic Four, Silver Surfer and others.

Some years later, when her first daughter was born, Adriana had to pause the race, while giving little attention to. Returning to active duty after five years, her first job was a special edition for LucasArts (the magazine came close to a game called RTX-RED ROCK) that work led to the Star Wars Empire magazine where he worked for an abnormal one year as an artist was the first time she worked with writer Ron Marz. In the same period she worked for DC Comics, a miniseries called Rose & Thorn, Birds of Prey in the title (also handling the covers), Emma Frost, pinups for the character Samurai: Heaven & Earth, among others. More recently, indicated by friend Ron Marz, she penciled Witchblade for a year, where along with Ron, developed the new character: Danielle Baptiste. She was the first woman to draw the character in Punisher Witchblade crossover JusticeiroSeu. Her latest work was a special edition of Sinestro Corps Special: Parallax, Parallax centered between a magazine and former Green Lantern, Kyle Rayner. Then came Ms. Marvel Jackpot, and again in DC, in collaboration Volume 2 Birds of Prey.
