Synopsis for Johnny Quick: "The Testing of Johnny Quick"
Professor Bradley gives a temporary formula (ZYMO4N 13/1) to Johnny Chambers and his assistant, Charles Drake. Bradley wants to see if the two men use the powers for good, testing them to see if they are worthy of receiving the permanent formula. The assistant uses his powers to commit crimes and this makes him clash head-on with Johnny Quick. The two confront each other a few times until the hero's powers expire. However, Johnny does not run away and even without powers he faces Charles Drake, who returns to normal shortly after. Johnny catches the villain and takes him to jail. Notes
- "Knight of the Future" is reprinted in The Masterworks Series of Great Comic Book Artists #2 and The Greatest 1950s Stories Ever Told.
- "The Testing of Johnny Quick" is a story that recounts the hero's origin in more detail and it renames the scientist who gave him the formula, Ezra Gill, to Professor Bradley. This retcon is ignored however, and even in Post-Crisis stories Johnny's mentor is always known as Ezra Gill.
