After Superboy leaves Earth, Duke Mason realizes that he cannot get revenge on the Boy of Steel by having his foster parents killed, and dies in the electric chair without revealing Superboy's secret identity. Superboy returns, having perpetrated a ruse to keep Mason from killing the Kents.
