While attending a carnival Oliver Queen and Roy Harper stop at a fortune telling booth run by a man claiming to be Merlin. Merlin tells the two that in 24 hours Oliver will kill his best friend with an arrow. Chalking it up as superstition, Oliver decides to play it safe by using a rifle with gimmicked bullets for the next 24 hours.

After successfully stopping a few crimes by this method, Speedy and Green Arrow return to the Arrow Cave and remark that the 24 hour deadline has passed and that they are safe. However, as Green Arrow puts down the rifle it falls over, shooting off a round that hits a cross-bow that fires an arrow into the chest of a mannequin of Roy. Shocked by this, they also realize that Oliver forgot to set the clock back an hour for day light savings time.
