Adventure Comics #424 is an issue of the series Adventure Comics (Volume 1) with a cover date of October, 1972.

Synopsis for Supergirl: "Crypt of the Frozen Graves"

Linda Danvers has been getting information as Supergirl on the Frisco Syndicate from former gangster Bruce Ryan. Her reporting gains her praise of her boss Geoff, who had been giving her flak at work about her camera operation due to Nasty's machinations. Nasty realizes Linda is after the same promotion she wants and comes up with a way to get her out of the running.

That evening Bruce gets in touch with Supergirl to tell her he is cancelling all further meetings between them, and ask her to not look for him. Then he disappears. Supergirl figures out the Syndicate has found out about their meetings and Bruce has gone into hiding.

Supergirl finds his hideout and decides to pry information out of him as Linda Danvers. However Bruce gets killed by a gunman who appears and disappears as if by magic. Linda blames herself and her wanting information for her death. When Linda learns that Nasty may have been giving information to the mob about Bruce to frustrate her reporting efforts, she physically attacks her and has to be restrained by Johnny and Geoff.

Just then four thugs barge in the premises to kidnap Linda. Linda allows herself to be captured and brought before the boss of the Syndicate. The man thinks Linda may know where Bruce hid a sum of money, and orders his men to torture her. Linda plays along, learning the Syndicate have been using a scientist's teleportation device to send in assassins and to dispose of witnesses by placing them in orbiting space capsules.

Linda intentionally gets the professor mad enough to teleport her. Linda changes into her Supergirl identity, flies back to the warehouse, brings the place down and jails the whole Syndicate.

During the following days she dwells on her life. Someone died because of Nasty's actions and because she was trying to get a promotion in a job she's coming to loathe and compromises her morals. It doesn't that Nasty is Geoff's favorite camera operator.

Her mind set, Linda Danvers goes back to KSF-TV Station and angrily resigns.
