The JSA story has an one-panel flashback to All-Star Comics #57, published in 1951. Senator O'Fallon was unnamed in this story, and was often assumed to be Joseph McCarthy or a stand-in, which was probably the original intent. America vs. the Justice Society #1 established his identity retroactively and explained that in this Earth Joseph McCarthy died a few years earlier due to a car accident.
