Synopsis for Starman: "The Mystery of the Undersea Terror"

30 ships have been sunk by unknown means by an agency known only as the League of the Octopus, and Woodley Allen is besieged by his superiors to get results, prompting him to make a desperate call to Starman, who's relieved to be away from having to always feign illness to hide his real career from Doris. Starman goes undercover as a sailor on the next ship that's scheduled to travel through the area where the others have been attacked, but finds something suspicious about the paint on the old scow.

When the ship's attacked, he switches to his costume and flies above a strange gas cloud that knocks out the rest of the crew; Starman recognizes this as the purple flare, a concoction only available to one man, a thought the hero dreads. An aquatic fortress rises from the ocean and from it men board the stricken vessel. While infiltrating their craft, Starman finds himself sealed inside a room that promptly floods before he's attacked by a vicious octopus. After killing the beast with an energy blast from his Gravity Rod, Starman escapes and finds out that the group's led by his enemy, The Light. The Light calls his guards and picks up the hero's dropped Gravity Rod, but in trying to use it against his nemesis he hits the wrong button and is knocked down by the recoil. With his weapon reclaimed, Starman rescues the survivors from the captured ships who help him seize control of the League's fortress.
