Synopsis for "Countdown to Injustice: Chapter One - Into the Multiverse"

In an another reality, an alternate version of Superman is murdered by Ultraman, who departs through a portal in search of the next Kal-El to kill.

On Earth 0, thousands of satellites owned by Lord Industries simultaneously fall out of orbit and hurtle towards Earth. With most of the Superman Family off-planet, Jon Kent rushes to try to destroy them all before they hit the ground, but even with the hasty assistance of other heroes it seems he will not make it. As he races to stop the satellites he feels a power build up within him and lightning starts to spark off him, but he suddenly hears a voice say he is coming to help. He loses concentration and the power stops.

Oracle informs him that all the satellites over Asia have mysteriously disappeared and so Jon destroys the debris falling towards first Africa and then Europe. As Jon travels East, something else heads West from Asia, stopping the satellites as they fall. Their trajectories meet in Germany where Jon finds a man in a Superman costume catching the final satellite. He introduces himself as Val-Zod and Jon quickly realises he is from another universe.

Val-Zod takes Jon to the Kent Farm to meet with Mister Terrific, who he has met before and can vouch for him. Holt confirms that Val and his ally Red Tornado are heroes. Val and Tornado tell Jon and Lois that Ultraman is travelling through the Multiverse murdering every alternate version of Kal-El he can find, using a device that allows him to drain their powers. As Ultraman's device is specifically tuned to Kal-El's DNA, Jon is immune and they need him to come with them and stop him. Lois refuses to let him go, as Ultraman tortured Jon for years when he imprisoned him in a volcano; but to their shock Red Tornado reveals that she is the Lois Lane of Earth 2 and says Jon is the only one who can stop Ultraman.
