Synopsis for "Countdown to Injustice: Chapter Five, Takedown"

After meeting with Earth 49's Jay Nakamura, Jon returns to the Insurgency base. Batman tells him how the Joker dosed Superman with a mixture of Kryptonite and Fear Toxin which caused him to hallucinate that Lois was Doomsday and kill her. Jon says that despite the tragedy Superman suffered, that doesn't excuse his actions and he needs to be stopped. Harley Quinn admits to Jon that she helped the Joker in his plot to destroy Superman but assumed he would fail as he had done every time before. She tries to apologise but Jon says he can't grant her forgiveness, and if she wants to atone for what she did she needs to help make the world better.

Robin brings Jay Nakamura to the Hall of Justice and tells Superman that he learned from Jay; that Jon has been speaking to Batman and sided with the Insurgency. Superman refuses to believe it but Damian tells him that he planted a tracker on Jon which shows him at a seemingly empty patch of land just outside Gotham. Robin tells Superman it is probably the Insurgency's base and they should attack now, but Superman insists they will wait until Jon leaves.

At the base, Jon tells the Insurgency he is with them but he is not sure what they should do as he doesn't want to have to fight or hurt Superman. Batgirl suggests using Ultraman's device on him, but the others point out that that would still leave the rest of the Regime to fight, and even with their "superpills" to grant them super-strength and durability they are still outmatched. Batman says he has a plan to draw Superman out alone and they will strike tomorrow. Batgirl tells Jon he should return to the Hall of Justice so Superman doesn't get suspicious and he leaves. An hour later the Regime attack the Insurgency's base and swiftly overpower them, destroying the pills before the Insurgency has a chance to take them.

Meanwhile, Jon flies to the Fortress of Solitude and places the sunstone crystal Lois gave him when he left Earth 0 into the main terminal. A recording of Lois tells him that the compassion he has for everyone, even Ultraman, are what make him a true hero and that she loves him. Jonathan and Martha Kent, who Superman keeps in the Fortress for their "safety", approach him. They tell him that Clark is hurt but they haven't been able to help him. Jon says he may have to stop Clark to save the world, but Martha tells him that if he can get Clark off the dark path he is on, he will have helped him. Suddenly, a broadcast from Superman appears on the Fortress main screen. Superman announces that the Insurgency have been captured, and Batman and Harley Quinn will be executed the next morning.
