After experiencing headaches and hallucinations about the Eradicator, Superman goes to Antarctica to check on the device and discovers an underground fortress made out of Kryptonian technology, with a tower collecting solar energy. Superman tries to communicate with the Eradicator, and he is shown images of Krypton's fifth historic epoch, learning that his ancestor Kem-L was the creator of the device.
