Adventures of Superman #473 is an issue of the series Adventures of Superman (Volume 1) with a cover date of December, 1990.
Synopsis for "Rings of Fire"
Clark and Lois tell Jimmy the news of their engagement, and he later passes the word to the rest of Daily Planet staff to organize an engagement party.
Suddenly, a big Green Lantern sign appears in the sky. The signal then changes to Superman's symbol, and Clark understands it is as a distress call. He flies to New York and asks Guy Gardner why he called him, but Guy isn't responsible for the signal. Guy's ring then reveals Hal Jordan's last recorded location in Wyoming before Hal's ring ran out of power, so Superman and Guy Gardner fly off to his rescue.
The two of them go to Wyoming's Air Force base, and they discover a massive alien spaceship buried and attached under the facility. Hal Jordan is imprisoned in this ship by a gigantic being who wanted the Green Lantern Power Battery to refuel his ship. Superman frees Hal before the pilot starts the engines of the massive ship. Since the ship's take-off could destroy the Airbase facility and the rest of Wyoming, the three heroes concentrate all their willpower to drain its engines of energy.
Superman realizes that the alien only wanted to go back to his home planet, so he offers their help to let him take off without risking human lives. The Green Lanterns and Superman dig out the massive ship and send it off to space, returning to its home planet.
