Adventures of Superman (Volume 1) with a cover date of November, 1991.
Synopsis for "Blackout"
Mister Z returns to Metropolis, seeking revenge of Superman after destroying his Gem Stone after their last encounter. His plan consists of using Emil Hamilton's technology to see inside Superman's mind.
Superman later visits Hamilton's lab checking on a gadget that would allow him to see through a satellite he launched in over the Antarctic. However, when he puts on the helmet, Mister Z takes control of him and his mind. While skipping through Superman's memories, Mister Z finds out his Gem Stone is in the Fortress in the Antarctic. He packs the helmet's battery in a bag and commands Superman to fly him to the Fortress, leaving the mind-numb Hamilton in his lab.
When they're long gone, Hamilton recovers his consciousness and gets a visit of Lois Lane. He explains what happened and tries to communicate to superman through the helmet. He gets a connection with Superman's mind, but they lose the signal quickly. To boost it, Hamilton accesses the reserve power grid of S.T.A.R. Labs, but they cause a power surge that leaves all of Metropolis without power.
In the Fortress, Mister Z finds the Gem Stone, and Superman, following Hamilton's command, flies him out to the surface. However, the power surge also affects Superman's helmet, causing it to explode and drop both of them on the snow, destroying the gem once again.
