Synopsis for "Collision Course"
Returning from space (after the conclusion of Superman (vol 2) #88), Superman finds his powers to be almost uncontrollable, and causes much property damage in Metropolis unintentionally. Maggie Sawyer subtly hints that he should get help.
Meanwhile, Lex Luthor pressures Paul Westfield for information on Cadmus projects that may save his life. The conversation is secretly monitored by Dabney Donovan. Lois Lane has concluding her research on the disappearance of Sasha Green, and intends to publicly accuse Luthor -- and to blow his biggest secret.
Emil Hamilton examines Superman and determines that a rare form of Kryptonite is responsible for his fluctuating powers. That he is absorbing solar energy at a rate greater than he can use it. The Man of Steel heads for Cadmus for answers, where he finds the Newsboy Legion stricken with the illness affecting all of the Cadmus clones. Soon the alarms sound, and the Guardian and Superman fend off an attack by the Underworlders.
LexCorp Tower is similarly under attack, but Luthor publicly blames it on Cadmus and declares all out war on them.
