Ak-Var is a Kryptonian and the second vigilante to use the name Flamebird, sidekick to Nightwing. Originally he was a petty thief who stole Krypton's famous Sun-Stone on a dare, but Superman helped him reform and he became the lab assistant to his partner Van-Zee. He has been a member of Black Zero as part of the Kryptonian Military Guild. Ak-Var was created by Edmond Hamilton and Curt Swan, first appearing in Action Comics #336. (1966)
