Dr. Aleister Hook is a crooked doctor who worked for Bruno Mannheim.
History
Hook provided medical treatment off the books to members of Intergang who were injured "on the job" and couldn't go to a hospital. Mannheim rewarded him with a job at a prestigious hospital in Hob's Bay which Mannheim controlled.
Hook and other scientists working for Mannheim developed a serum from X-Kryptonite and a sample of Superman's blood, searching for a cure to Bruno's wife Peia's cancer. Hook would find terminally ill prisoners and recommend them for compassionate release, and Mannheim would intimidate judges into releasing them. Hook used these men as test subjects and found that the serum not only prolonged their lives but also gave them powers. Intergang also stole Bizarro's corpse from a DoD facility for Hook to study. He was able to derive a seemingly working cure from Bizarro's blood and even restore him to life.
Hook's serum appeared to cure Peia Mannheim of her cancer, but in fact it worsened it and boosted her powers beyond her ability to control, eventually killing her. Bruno was arrested by the DoD and confessed to all his crimes, including that he had framed Lex Luthor for murder years ago. Luthor's henchman Otis tracked Hook down and tortured him for information, and Hook eventually revealed the truth about everything, including that Bizarro was alive and still sealed in the lab.

- This version of the character is exclusive to the continuity of the Arrowverse and is an adaptation of Skyhook. The original character was created by John Byrne and first appeared in Superman (Volume 2) #15.
