Alexander Siddig (b. November 21, 1965) is a British actor who portrayed Ra's al Ghul on Gotham (2017–2018).

Professional History
Alexander Siddig is a British actor and director best known for portraying Dr. Julian Bashir on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and other shows in the Star Trek franchise. He also had well-publicized roles on 24, Game of Thrones and Primeval. In the third and fourth seasons of the DC Entertainment-produced series Gotham, Siddig portrayed Ra's al Ghul, for which he gained praise from critics and fans.
Personal History
Born in Omdurman, Sudan to a Sudanese father and a British mother, Siddig el-Tahir el-Fadil el-Siddig Abdurrahman Mohammed Ahmed Abdel Karim el-Mahdiin moved to London, England at two years old, where he struggled socially in school due to his race and ethnicity. As an adult, he became an actor under the stage name Alexander Siddig in the United States, and found success playing Dr. Bashir on Deep Space Nine. While working on the show, he met his first wife, Nana Visitor. The couple had one son before their divorce in 2001. Siddig later met his second wife, Shana Collier, while filming Cairo Time, and married her in 2015. As of 2018, they live together in Massachusetts.
Siddig is also the maternal nephew of British actor Malcolm McDowell, and the great-great-grandson of Nubian religious leader Muhammad Ahmad. He spoke Arabic as a child, but had forgotten it by his second year in England. He has described his sexuality as "not quite straight".
