Quote1 Don't be afraid to let go of me, Kyle. Quote2
Alexandra DeWitt src

Alex DeWitt worked as a photographer for a newspaper in Los Angeles.

She dated Kyle Rayner before he received the last Green Lantern Power Ring from Ganthet.[1] The two had broken up because Alex found Kyle too immature. When Kyle revealed the new ring he had received, she was at first apprehensive. However, she agreed to help Kyle train himself to use this new power. She was the one that told Kyle of Hal Jordan who vanished a few weeks ago.

Alexandra DeWitt's death

She helped Kyle design his first costume and defeat his first villain, Ohm. Sadly, Alex's time with Kyle was short lived. A few days later, when Kyle returned home, he discovered that Major Force had strangled Alex and stuffed her in his refrigerator.[2] This drove Kyle to attack Major Force, nearly beating him to death.

After her death, Kyle was offered twice to have Alex resurrected. The first came from Parallax[3] when he tried to recruit Kyle to help him rebuild the timeline. The second was by Neron when he offered to trade the life of Alex in exchange for Kyle's soul. Kyle refused both times.[4]

Alexandra was never far from Kyle's thoughts, as he subconsciously created constructs of her with his ring. The first time was when Kyle was on monitor duty for the Teen Titans. His ring tapped into his grief and loneliness to create a projection of her while he was falling asleep.[5] The second time was when Kyle needed help to defeat Oblivion.[6] Kyle tried to summon more Green Lanterns from another time or universe. Alexandra showed up as a Green Lantern from a universe where it was Kyle who had been the one killed by Major Force. After the group consisting of Kyle, Alex, Power Girl, Adam Strange, The Atom, Firestorm and other alternate-dimensional Green Lanterns defeated Oblivion, Kyle realized that Alex was only a manifestation of his psyche.

Alex was sometimes a weakness of Kyle's. His enemies could incite fear and doubt in Kyle by mentioning her. But sometimes she inspired confidence in him, like Mogo did before the Sinestro Corps War.[7] Alex was revived as a Black Lantern during Blackest Night. She confronted Kyle when he travelled to Earth with the other seven Corps to battle Nekron. She made Kyle watch Major Force kill her in a attempt to break Kyle's will. However, Kyle overcame this trauma and quickly defeated Alex with the help of Munk, laying Alex to rest by destroying her black power ring.
