Alfred Pennyworth is the loyal butler and confidant of Batman.
History
Even though he didn't fully comprehend the nature of Bruce's newfound powers, Alfred always supported him on his crusade, keeping a sassy but sober attitude. Not even the sight of a crashed alien spaceship in the Manor's yard seemed to flinch him. Taking care of the Batcave during Bruce's absence, Alfred received the Guardians' calls and notified Bruce.
Sadly, Alfred met his doom when Sinestro, Star Sapphire, and Binary Star learned Green Lantern's identity and invaded the Batcave. After receiving a fatal blow, Alfred's last deed was grabbing the power battery and calling for his master. Bruce returned quickly to the cave but found Alfred already dead. He made a grave in Alfred's honor using his power ring and resumed the chase for the killers. Bruce never had time to mourn him, for his mourning has always been his work.
