Alfredo Alcala (b. August 23, 1925 – d.April 8, 2000) was a comic book artist.

Professional History

Alfredo Alcala was a Filipino artist and illustrator. He became a prominent artist working in the comic book industry in Philippines and he started working for Marvel Comics and DC Comics in the early 70s. His work was most prominent in horror comics and when those books declined in popularity in the mid-80s, Alacala turned to the animation industry.

Personal History

Alcala was a self-taught artist, who gained notoriety during the Japanese occupation of the Philippines. He moved to USA in 1976 and lived in New York at first, before moving to California.

Alcala died from cancer in 2000 at the age of 74.
