Synopsis for Green Lantern: "The Mystery of Marvelous Marvyn"

Marvyn Luminous is a child savant violinist, whose family sponge off his talents to surround themselves with luxury. Getting fed up that he never gets to do anything he wants, when the Goulash Gang tries to rob the attendees of his latest concert and Green Lantern tries to stop them, Marvyn knocks the crimefighter out with a wooden violin in one of the more ignominious moments in GL's career. Marvyn then tags along with the fleeing gangsters, who plan to ransom him, but he soon begins planning ridiculously ambitious crimes that drive the Goulash Gang to the point of being unhinged.

Doiby takes GL to a hangout for other cab drivers, who prove to have spotted the gang's getaway car. The duo track it down but GL is knocked out by a wooden ladder this time. However, the gang has had enough of Marvyn's playing and planning outlandish crimes for them and send GL a note offering to pay for the hero to "rescue" Marvyn from them. When he doesn't bite they stage a robbery of a penny candy store to get his attention. After pounding them GL agrees to take Marvyn home, but only if they confess all of their crimes. The Goulash Gang agree, looking forward to jail because Marvyn won't be there. This little adventure has given Marvyn the nerve to stand up to his family, by saying that if they keep forcing him to do what benefits them he'll ruin his good name by saying he was the mastermind of the Goulash Gang. Soon Marvyn is getting to play profitable music, but have fun at the same time playing in a jive band instead of classical.

Synopsis for Atom: "Gangsters, Guns and Girls"

Al Pratt works after school hours at the newspaper, and one day he convinces his boss to run a fake obituary for local gangster Dude Henwick. Dude is very un-amused, and visits Al at the newspaper office; brash remarks are exchanged, and Dude smacks Al, then leaves. Al changes clothes and jumps out the window, then overtakes Henwick on the sidewalk, bullying a newsboy. The thrashes the dude, and warns him to leave town; Henwick runs away.

Al resumes his regular identity, in which his life is being complicated by a favor he's doing for his sort-of-girlfriend, Mary James. He's gotten fast-talked into chaperoning two freshmen sorority candidates around for the evening, and show them the campus. They show up, and they're both extremely tall, especially by contrast with Al. They're built like fullbacks, really. It doesn't go very well at first. Meanwhile not far away, Dude Henwick huddles up with his two thug buddies, planning one last job before they blow town. Easiest target in town is the ice-cream parlor, so that's where they'll strike. At the soda shop they burst in, brandishing handguns, and encounter Al and his two dates. The girls think this is some fake stunt, so Al pretends to faint, and knocks over their table in the process. Behind the table, he changes clothes, then leaps into battle as the Atom! He makes mincemeat of the robbers and leaves them nicely trussed up for the police. The girls are quite impressed with this, and they decide to forget about Al, and drag the Atom around town to see the sights instead.
