All-Star Squadron #37 is an issue of the series All-Star Squadron (Volume 1) with a cover date of September, 1984.
Synopsis for "Lightning in Berlin!"
The All-Stars immediately accuse the Marvels of being Hitler Youth versions of “Super-Nazi” and tries to pull them up, but them start flying off with him, which gets Wonder Woman snaring Mary Marvel by the legs with her Magic Lasso and Captain Marvel, Jr. being trapped in a green bubble. Mary Marvel explains that Captain Marvel isn't usually a villain and, some time after Mary Marvel joined them, a sudden bolt of energy hit Captain Marvel and he suddenly disappeared! The two Marvels left lit the magic brazier and summoned the spirit of Shazam, who said that Captain Marvel has been pulled to “another Earth” and they flew their way there. The Flash figures that he's being controlled by the Spear of Destiny and explain that magical heroes can be controlled by the Third Reich, so Mary and Junior turn back into Mary and Freddy to ride in a Plastic Man Dirigible to head to Berlin to try to stop the Spear of Destiny and rescue Captain Marvel! Thus, Batman, the Hawkman, Plastic Man and the Marvel Kids are able to sneak into Berlin and into the Reichschancellery. The Flash knocks out two Nazi guards and they soon finds Billy Batson and free him, but Mary warns him not to safe the magic word. Billy tries to tell them he's not Captain Marvel anymore and Hitler himself steps forward to order “Hauptmann Wunder” to fight off the All-Stars! An SS officer puts a gun to Billy's head and Hitler orders they stand down. Billy quickly says that when Captain Marvel was brought to Nazi Germany, he was already separated into himself and Billy and calling SHAZAM was then meaningless via some form of science from Prof. Gootsden. Hitler orders Mary and Freddy to stand on two platforms under an eerie green light and Prof. Gootsden activates his “Spatial-Displacement Ray” to create an evil Mary Marvel and Evil Captain Marvel, Jr. before Hitler orders them to drop a huge bomb on London!
Billy manages to tip his chair over and the All-Stars fight off the Nazis and recover Billy as Batman drops a smoke bomb on the SS and Plastic Man blows back up to Dirigible Mode to carry them back to Piccadilly Circus. Back in London, Superman is still bitter from his recent defeat and soon spots the Evil Marvel Family as Captain Marvel toe-kicks the bomb to the House of Commons while Superman, Wonder Woman and Green Lantern try to stop the bomb from landing and manage to blow it up in mid-air. The three heroes are left unconscious on the ground as the Evil Marvel Family close in. Plastic Man is hit by shells (since he's more vulnerable in a giant form like he is now) and crashes into the Channel. He soon is able to turn himself into a life raft and the Flash is able to kick their way like a speedboat, but are soon attacked by Nazi E-boats, which wing the Flash in the arm and shoot Plastic Man through the shoulder. The Nazis decide to arrest the Hawkman and order the other shot to death. Suddenly, Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern and the Marvel Family are able to get out and attack the E-boats, destroying them easily and the Marvel Kids figure that they all need to call SHAZAM (and CAPTAIN MARVEL) together to try to fuse back into their correct ways, which works… but also sends them all back to Earth-S together. Superman notes that he never did really figure out which one of them was stronger, but also he doesn't really care either. Plastic Man worries if their Hitler has a Spear of Destiny of his own and Wonder Woman tries to attend to their wounds. Superman hopes the next time he finds the Marvel Family, it'll be as friends and Wonder Woman hopes, if that's the case, they meet again soon...
