The Alpha Centurion is an ancient divine hero tasked with protecting humanity from the peril of monsters using mortal men throughout history as his hosts. His current host is a young man from Metropolis named Roman.
History
College student Roman was a victim of a terrorist attack on the Metropolis Museum of History. Suffering multiple injuries, he used a roman belt on display as a make-shift tourniquet. He was possessed by the Alpha Centurion, a minor Roman god who had been trapped in the belt. The god easily defeated the terrorists.[1]
Roman was the latest in a long list of hosts over the centuries, and Alpha Centurion has always worked to carry out the wishes of the Pantheon of Grace, protecting and saving people from monsters.[2]
Since then, the Alpha Centurion frequently reasserted dominance over Roman's body. He could sense imminent danger, causing him to transform. Roman, meanwhile, was terrified of his loss of agency, and feared the moment the god would take him over for good.[3]
Alpha Centurion has his own pantheon called the Pax Galactica, an army of warriors united to preserve cosmic stability.[4]
He was included in a long list created by the Justice League of possible candidates for the Titans, but he was not selected for Nightwing's chosen lineup.[5]
