Alvin Pierce is the father of Jefferson Pierce, who would grow up to become Black Lightning. He was married to Leona Pierce, and also had a daughter named Connie Pierce. Originally he was portrayed as a grocery store worker murdered by Peter Gambi. However, Year One retcons him as an investigative journalist. Connie later named her son Alvin Pierce in honor of her father. Alvin Pierce was created by Tony Isabella and Trevor von Eeden, first appearing in Black Lightning #6. (1978)
