Alysia Yeoh is a close friend and former roommate to the superhero Batgirl in her secret identity as Barbara Gordon. She is a transgender woman of Singaporean descent and describes herself as somewhat of an activist painter, when she's not at her night job bar tending. At the time of her debut appearance, Alysia was noted for being the first major transgender character written in a contemporary context in a mainstream comic book. Her and Jo Muñoz's wedding in Batgirl (Volume 4) #45 was also the first ever transgender wedding to be depicted in a comic book.
