Amazons Attack (Volume 1) with a cover date of August, 2007.
Synopsis for "The Road to Hell"
It is revealed that the Amazonian attack has been going on for days, but Superman has managed to put out the fires in Kansas. Hippolyta takes to the airwaves asking for the unconditional surrender of the United States. The severity of the situation causes the United States President to invoke the provisions of the McCarran Internal Security Act, which allows the arrest of those with possible connection to the Amazons. This causes Helena Sandsmark to be arrested among others and held with other women at an internment camp. Another attack is launched, with a bombing of a nuclear power plant in Star City. Amazonian generals Phillipus and Artemis see this as terrorism and begin to question Hippolyta's motives. Batman, who is caring for Nemesis, is approached by Diana who checks on his condition. Diana reveals that there is a cure for him on Themyscira, but she does not have time to get it. Due to her mother being arrested, Wonder Girl and Supergirl join with the Amazons. Though the nuclear power plant is contained before going into meltdown, Green Arrow discovers a highly advanced bomb at the site that failed to explode. He and Batman confer and conclude that the Amazons have an unknown ally with technological expertise. Later, in retaliation for the President’s order, Wonder Girl and Supergirl confront Air Force One in the skies above the United States.
