American Crusader is the name of several characters from the DC Universe. The first American Crusader was Archibald "Archie" Masters, a professor and astronomer who became the first nuclear science-hero on Earth-ABC. Archie was based on the Nedor Comics character of the same name.
The second and third American Crusaders were doppelgangers created as a pastiche of Marvel Comics' superhero Captain America. The second was a superhero from Earth-6 and the third was a man named Jack, a patriotic superhero from Earth 8 and leader of the Retaliators. After Jack's death during the Infinite Frontier, he was succeeded by an unnamed nan.
The first American Crusader was adapted by Alan Moore and Chris Sprouse, first appearing in Tom Strong #12 (2002). The second American Crusader was created by Grant Morrison, first appearing in Final Crisis: Superman Beyond #1 (2008); and the third was created by Morrison and Ivan Reis, first appearing in The Multiversity #1 (2014).
