Anastasio Corvo (New Earth)

This has made him an enemy to the Suicide Squad. He is a genetically altered Greek man who wears a lionesque battle-suit. The suit has claws that shoot at a high velocity out of his hands, and a grenade launcher stored in his scorpion tail.^[1] His powers were engineered for Jihad by the scientist Jess Bright.^[2]

Suicide Squad

The Jihad auditioned for President Marlo of Qurac by destroying a fake airport. They used real Quraci citizens to set the scene, and Manticore slaughtered a large number of innocents. This was a success and Marlo hired them to kill the American President. The other members of this team included Chimera, Djinn, Jaculi, Ravan, and their leader Rustam. Amanda Waller sent the Suicide Squad to attack their fortress Jotunheim.^[1] Manticore sleeps in a lair at the bottom of an abandoned elevator shaft. Deadshot is sent to neutralize him, and finds that Manticore is resistant to bullets. His body is armored, but his face is not, so Deadshot shoots him in the face and kills him.^[3]

Rustam later recruited a second Manticore when the Jihad attacked Manhattan.^[4] The original Manticore was briefly resurrected by Koschei the Deathless as an enthralled zombie, but he was quickly killed again by the Suicide Squad.^[2]
