Synopsis for "The Devil and the Deep Blue Sea"

On the Faroe Islands, Dane Dorrance and his companion Jóannes discuss their plans, and their expectations that they will be joined by Animal Man and Dolphin. A local named Ongur Nielsen, whom Jóannes describes as bad news, recognizes Dane as an American and threatens him with a broken bottle. Before the fight can get out of hand, Animal Man arrives, and stuns everyone with a sonic blast.

Dane explains that he and Jóannes are attempting to stop an annual tradition for the Faroese people, where they slaughter schools of dolphins for fun, rather than for food. The slaughter has grown increasingly violent and sadistic, according to Dane.

The next morning, Ongur and the Faroese people gather at the beach to begin the slaughter, while Dane, Animal Man, and Dolphin set their plan into motion. Animal Man and Dolphin swim under water and guide the dolphins away from Ongur and his men using ultrasound. Unfortunately, Ongur knows that the dolphins won't leave an injured member of their school behind, and so harpoons one of their number. Animal Man is enraged, and capsizes Ongur's boat.

Meanwhile, as the dolphins approach the shore, the gathered Faroese people advance. However, Dane fires a machine gun into the water in front of them, establishing a perimeter. Still, Ongur rises from the water, grabbing a young dolphin by the tail and stabs it several times before Dane's eyes.

Animal Man plucks Ongur from the water, and flies him high into the air over the ocean, and in anger, he drops him. Later, a dolphin, while resentful of Ongur and the other humans, saves his life because killing is not the dolphin way.
