I have been here since the beginning.- — Antiope src
Antiope was the General of the Amazons of Themyscira and co-founder of the Amazons of Bana-Mighdall, sister of Queen Hippolyta and aunt of Wonder Woman.
History
Antiope was the second Amazon to come through the Well of Souls, right after Hippolyta, and the first to leave Themyscira.[1] In the past she left Themyscira not as an exile, but because she believed that if there was good for Man's World, it had to be done from Man's World. She loved her people, and her sister Hippolyta, but she could not abide Zeus and what she thought was complacency. Along with her aunt Atalanta, she founded the tribe of the Amazons of Bana-Mighdall, remaining their leaders until the moment they left them.[2] In 1041 BCE, at some point before leaving the island, Antiope founded the Victor's Circle, a semi-official underground fighting organization on Themyscira where Amazons could arrange one-on-one unarmed bouts.[3]
At some more recent point, Antiope returned to the Amazons of Themyscira as their general. When the mythical Olympian world collapsed, she and General Philippus led the Amazons to the Dimension Chi in search of a refuge.[4]
