Apate is the Greek goddess and personification of deceit.
History
Years ago, Apate and her brother Dolos, the Duke of Deception, hatched a plan to invade Themyscira: while Apate distracted the Amazons with a false case of murder that had occurred on the island, Dolos would be free to search for the Secret Flame of Prometheus, which Ares hid underneath the island millennia ago and with which they could turn the lies they wove into reality. However, they were overcome by the combined work of Wonder Woman and her comrades-in-arms Superman and Batman & Robin in the very first adventure of the Trinity, and were imprisoned behind the Doom's Doorway.[1]
