Apex Ava is a big game hunter and serial murderer who gained superpowers during the Beast World event.

History

Ava spent years hunting rare and dangerous animals, tattooing every kill onto her body. She contracted Sakutia in Lamumba and transitioned to hunting humans when she learned she was dying. Ava was eventually caught and imprisoned in Arkham Tower, with a prognosis of only days to live.

On the first day of Beast World, a spore came into her cell and attempted to possess her, but she stabbed it to death with a spoke of her wheelchair and ate it. The spore was a fragment of Beast Boy, another Sakutia patient; it somehow reacted with her own illness to restore her to full health, change her skin and hair green and grant her animal-based superpowers. She broke out of Arkham and used her newfound control over the spores to gather up the majority of Beast-People in Gotham City; who she forced to fight in an underground dogfighting ring. When Robin discovered her holding pens under Gotham Zoo, she forced a spore into his mouth, transforming him into a cat. She was later foiled by Nightwing and Superman, but escaped by transforming into a bird and flying away.

Ava later became an assassin for hire and attempted to kill the President of Kravia. She was stopped by the Titans, and swore that she would one day kill and eat Beast Boy to gain his power.
