Synopsis for "A Father's Favor"

Aqualad after subduing a villain receives a call from his mother who worries that being a superhero will destroy his life. In return Jackson asks if she's worried he'll end up like his father. While he is swimming in the ocean near the Titans Tower, Black Manta arrives and asks him to assist him in a task which he couldn't trust anyone else for except him.

The two travel to Rhode Island and Manta states that the man they're going to see stole something important to his family. When they find the man, Jackson warns Manta that he'll stop him if he tries to kill him, leading Manta to reply that's why he brought him in case he's provoked. The man Manta is after turns out to be Oscar Montez visiting the grave of Manta's mother Ramona.

Oscar tells Manta he didn't use the money he gave him for her treatment as Ramona was disgusted of the way her son had earned it and accuses him of abandoning her by choosing to stay with his father as well as valuing his pride and vengeance. Manta states it was her own fault that she didn't accompany him and his father while choosing to marry and settle down with Oscar instead. Manta prepares to kill him stating he has no need for him now that his mother's dead, but Jackson stops him.

As Oscar escapes, Manta attacks his son for allowing him to be able to do so. Meanwhile, the earlier conversation between Jackson and Lucia is shown, with Lucia affirming that she worries that he'll end up like his father even if he is good, telling him to not replace family life with one of a superhero. Manta meanwhile overpowers Jackson but spares him, opting to simply leave instead.
