The Argonauts were the crew of famous Greek heroes who sailed on the Argo ship under the leadership of Jason of Iolcus.[1]

History

Earth-Two

Jason of Iolcus, favored of the goddess Hera, gathered the Argonauts, the greatest assemblage of heroes the ancient world ever saw. They fought unimaginable perils to win the Golden Fleece of Colchis.[1]

New Earth

Among the adventures on board the Argo, the heroes landed on the island of Lemnos. Under Queen Hypsipyle, Lemnos had violently purged its male population, and swore to live free of men and violence — until Jason and his famed Argonauts arrived. Charmed despite themselves, the Lemnosians bore many children with these men, Hypsipyle bearing both a son and a daughter with Jason himself. Unfortunately, the Argonauts soon abandoned their new families to continue the quest for the Golden Fleece, spurring the Lemnosians to kill every male child on the island, Hypsipyle's own son included.[2]

Thousands of years later, Zeus revived the Argonauts as part of the Gargareans, and Jason became the lieutenant of Achilles Warkiller.[3]

Besides Jason, Euphemus[3], son of Poseidon, Hercules[citation needed], son of Zeus, and the seer Calchas[2] were also part of the Argo crew.

Prime Earth

Jason was the captain of the Argo, whose crew was made up of names like Hercules[4], son of Zeus, and Glaucus[4], the non-divine immortal who raised Jason, the son of Zeus and the queen of the Amazons, Hippolyta, who got his name after the leader of the Argonauts.
