Art Saddows was an investigative journalist and part of the Mystery Analysts of Gotham City, a group of dedicated mystery solvers from Gotham City who decided to meet regularly to solve mysterious crimes.

Saddows was the target of a criminal called Al Cutshaw, who was sent to prison because of Saddow's involvement. Cutshaw managed to hypnotize the members of the Myster Analysts in order to place them in danger. Saddow and his fellow detective Tellman, were both sent to a place in which Cutshaw had placed a bomb. Saddow and Tellman were saved by the timely intervention of Batman, who later managed to capture Cutshaw.[1]

Eventually, Art's son Alex, became involved in an accidental murder, and Batman decided to help the fellow detective finding the real culprit. In this process, Alex helped Batman capture a gang of thieves and later, Batman returned the favor by finding the person who framed Alex.[2]
