Arthur Curry is Aquaman, the half-human and half-Atlantean king of Atlantis. He is a member of the Justice League.

Arthur Curry is the child of Atlanna, queen of Atlantis, and Tom Curry, a lighthouse keeper in Amnesty Bay. Their love was forbidden and Atlanna had to return to Atlantis to fulfill her duties, thus leaving Arthur to be raised by Tom. Growing up Arthur exhibited great abilities, including his mother's ability to breathe both air and water and swim at great speeds. Tom had Arthur's blood analyzed by a scientist, but said scientist schemed to release his findings, forcing Tom to destroy all of it except for a single vial of blood. To get the vial, the scientist hired Black Manta, leading to a fight with Tom that would kill him after he suffered a heart attack. With his father now dead, Arthur fled civilization and was eventually found by Vulko, the royal advisor of Atlantis. Vulko informed him of Atlanna's death, making Arthur the heir to the throne. After being crowned king of Atlantis, Arthur would become known as Aquaman.

Arthur's role as king would put him into conflict with Mera, member of the royal family of Xebel. The Xebelian was tasked with killing the Aquaman with her powers, however she would find herself impressed by Arthur's kindness and bravery while observing him rescue wounded whales. The two would fall in love, and Mera would renounce her home in order to marry Arthur and become queen of Atlantis.[1]
