Atlas was one of the Titans of Myth.

After the Olympian Gods overthrew the Titans, Atlas was condemned by Zeus to hold the heavens in his shoulders forever afterward.[1]

Powers

  • Immortality: Atlas is immortal and ceased to physically age after adulthood. He was the founder of Atlantis, a city which existed 11,000 years ago. [1]
  • Superhuman Strength: Atlas possesses a strength level far in excess to normal human beings. Although the full limits of his strength level are unknown, it is believed that Atlas is one of the strongest beings on the planet Earth, perhaps only second to Hercules.
  • Invulnerability
    • Superhuman Stamina: Atlas can sustain prolonged physical activity without tiring, sleeping, etcetera. He supports the weight of the heavens.
  • Power Distribution: Atlas can bestow a portion of his stamina to mortal beings. When young Billy Batson speaks the magic word "Shazam", he inherits stamina (and invulnerability) from Atlas transforming him into Earth's mightiest mortal - Captain Marvel.

  • Atlas is mentioned for the first time, in a comic book, in Whiz Comics Vol 1 2.
  • This character or object is an adaptation of Atlas, a character or object in traditional stories. These include, but may not be limited to religious texts, myth, and/or folk lore. More information on the original can be found at Wikipedia.org.
