History

Staff Sergeant Austen T. Blanchard enlisted in the 5th Ranger Battalion on May 19th, 1939. In Aachen, he single-handily destroyed a German tank.

For his feats, he was recruited into Team Zero and given the codename "Cowboy". Blanchard participated in Operation: Blue Plate where his team succeeded in capturing German rocket scientists. After learning that their escape route was compromised, Blanchard and his team were forced to engage Soviet forces. Together with Sgt. Samuel Nakadai, he provided sniper support in the defense of Karlshagen. Ultimately, Blanchard and Nakadai were killed by Soviet grenades.
