Synopsis for "Requiem"
Jean-Paul Valley told of how he became Azrael, starting with how his father and predecessor Ludovic had died and left things behind for him. Eleven months earlier, Ludovic was shot and wounded while failing to kill Carleton LeHah. When traveling to the U.S. to search for him, Ludovic recruited the help of LeHah's secretary Patricia Partridge. Ludovic saved her life and her daughter's life from men sent by LeHah and shared a kiss with her. He received a vision from St. Dumas ordering him to slay Patricia before he bought a baseball for Jean-Paul upon her advice. He took advantage of the Founders' Day celebrations and changed into Azrael, although he was shot by LeHah's specially coated bullets before he fled dying and ended up by his son's door. Meanwhile, Patricia was disappointed that Ludovic didn't come to her, while she was waiting. Afterwards, Jean-Paul traveled the Earth seeking knowledge of his origins and his destiny.
